Veinticinco

Yesterday I celebrated my 25th birthday. Time to go scavenging for some wrinkle creams ha. It still seems unreal to me, I am such a kid at heart so it is strange to think of myself as a twenty-five year old woman. How time flies! I am truly grateful for all that I have accomplished and all the wonderful people in my life and I am eager to see what life has in store for me.
For my birthday I went to brunch with my girlfriends to one of my favorite spots in Napa. Everyone who knows me knows brunch is my favorite meal of the day. You don't have to wake up too early and you can eat either breakfast food or lunch or both lol. Afterwards, we went to Artesa Winery for some vino. The winery has an incredible view of the valley and it is nice because you can buy a bottle and sit outside and just enjoy the view and the company.
I had the hardest time deciding what to wear, literally clothes all over the floor kind of situation. I finally stopped overthinking and chose something simple but chic. I am in love with everything about this blouse. The color, the fabric, the ruching, the sleeves...need I go on? I tied it at the waist to accentuate my waist and I paired it with my go-to black distressed jeans and studded heels.

Los Cabos

A few days before Thanksgiving I decided to plan a spontaneous mini trip with one of my girlfriends to Los Cabos, Mexico. It was a nice escape from the cold weather here in Northern California. We stayed pretty close to the Marina and the downtown area. I was so surprised on how touristy the area is, I know it should have been a no-brainer since it is a vacation spot. I guess I am used to going to Guanajuato in Mexico where my mom's family is from and it is not anything like it. Although we were only there for a short while we thoroughly enjoyed time. We literally only consumed tacos and alcoholic beverages while we were there lol. We loved the nightlife there, everything is so close you can literally walk from bar to bar. My favorite for music was La Vaquita, dancing wise La Mandala. They had this super weird bar called Squid Roe...which had me scratching my head like skid row? Anyways the bar was very strange people dancing on tables even the workers lol I only liked it because they give you free popcorn lol.

During the day we would explore the beaches and we took a tour to go see El Arco. We got to see Pelican beach as well as Lovers Beach and much more including a variety of rock formations. The guide even gave us some tortillas to crumble and toss in the water to feed the fish and when they came up to eat the pieces it was absolutely stunning the many different kind of fish there were. Different colors, different sizes, all vibrant and some even were polka-dotted. The guide also told us that since the hurricane that hit a few years back in Mexico, the water level has raised 18ft so some of the beaches that connected don't anymore. I did get a little sea sick I am not going to lie lol. Later on we went for lunch at Esperanza Resort. The property was the definition of luxury. They have six different restaurants on property. We ate at La Palapa, the view from the restaurant was incredible and the food was very delicious. I hope to go back soon!

Splash of Lemonade

Although it is almost instinctual to gravitate towards darker shades during the fall and winter season, it is always pleasant to see a pop of color. I bought this top a few years ago and to dust off all the cobwebs it had collected and be able to style it was quite exciting. I kept it simple leaving the blouse as the main focus. Sometimes less is more.

Castello Di Amorosa

I recently was in Fort Lauderdale for work and I had a full day of down time to stroll the beaches and lay out. I even got to see a crab cross a street haha only in Florida! Of course I had to go shopping and when I spotted this gorgeous wrap dress I immediately knew I would wear it out the next time I went wine tasting with my girlfriends. Sure enough, my girlfriend from Arkansas came to visit me and I took her to Castello Di Amorosa in Calistoga. The castle is charming and has several levels you can explore. Not to mention the wines are quite tasty :) I definitely recommend visiting if you are ever in the area.

Lady in Black

Yes my red hair has gone bye bye and I chopped myself some bangs. I am not going to lie, I miss my red hair already. Yet due to a new work position I had to get rid of my "un-natural" hair color (sad face). I was browsing online one day and as soon as I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it. I love everything about this dress from the sheer fabric to the mock collar and of course the embroidery. Something about it reminds me of Mexico and makes me think of my family there. Anything that reminds me of mi querido Mexico wins a place in my heart and closet. Hopefully I will be able to visit soon. Do you have certain items that make you think of a special place?

Ice

Sometimes it is nice to keep your outfit simple and let pieces of jewelry make the statement. I have always been into layering jewelry, in particularly rings, it just creates a different dimension. Last summer I was lusting over Dylanlex's entire jewelry collection but what I was more fascinated by was their necklace pieces. Absolutely stunning, almost armor-like and such detailing on every piece. However, let's be honest, I can't afford such a splurge at the moment so I found some pieces inspired by the collection at Forever 21 and they will do for now.

Camel

Yes I have red hair! If you have not noticed in recent posts I have been changing my hair color quite often and sadly it has become drier than the desert. I am still contemplating whether I like it or not...somedays I feel like a chola while other days I feel bold and venturesome. I apologize for the lack of posts but honestly I have been quite busy and so has my sister, who is my current photographer.
On our days off my sister and I love going to brunch together. I wore this simple outfit consisting of different camel hues and stepped out in my studded heels I got a while back from Europe.
What are some of your favorite things to do on your days off?

San Francisco

Growing up in a small and quiet town I have always been fascinated by the city. The liveliness, the busy streets, the fashion, everyone just seems to be in their own world and you stop to wonder where they are going. It is also crazy to think that San Francisco was where my parents celebrated their honeymoon! Today I went to San Francisco with my sister, she goes to SF State University and only had one class today. I actually attended class with her lol and pretended to be a student for the day which reminded me why I am so glad I am done with college. Afterward, we explored the city and ate at a vegan restaurant and of course walked the pier. I love having sister dates with my little sister and bonding over new food.

I wore this grey dress which is the perfect length to pair with thigh-high boots. I love how the boots are more of a taupe color so it doesn't look too matchy. I tossed on my long black cardigan and was set to go. I think a long cardigan is a good basic to have because if you ever have a dress or romper that is too short it covers you from the back and just makes your outfit look more casual.

Do you live in a busy city?

Xoxo,
Guadalupe
